yea i think the new distance thing bizz is implementing with having an area of vision without the fog really makes certain maps look really weird, like in pripyat where buildings will just appear in front of me, and i can see the 2D skybox textures that are outside of the map like factories and stuff before i see anything that is in front of me. my suggestion would be just to rollback to the original vision system, or implement a fog so it wont look as weird, and buildings wont just clip into existance where i really should be able to see them just fine. to be honest im not even a fan of the fog idea, or the new vision distance either.

I've noticed this too, and with no improvement to my framerate at all. Even the fog didnt help really. FPS is going to be garbage on any system, its just people playing on pizza boxes that have trouble because they get around 5fps. If people want better performance they should either upgrade their system (which I know isn't possible for everybody) or simply lower their video settings. We shouldn't have to deal with things like above because the lowest common denominator can't run it.

My suggestion is to at least add an option to remove it or default it off and let people turn it on if they can't toast fast enough.

It's called the "FarZ Plane" and as far as I know it's built into the map. I have to re release a new version of the map every time I change the render distance. Also it does majorly affect performance for the better. Besides, when the fog is there I think it looks better foggy. More atmospheric.

Honestly though Gmod's been running like crap ever since it stopped being multithreaded. Can't do anything about that honestly and some maps just have so much detail, like pripyat that in most areas of it your FPS dies.
PAC doesn't help either
also the whether system hides the fog at night time. I'm going to get around to making it darker instead so it won't look like this.
