Its something that would be nice, the ability to set things on fire from a distance.

That sounds more like a Husk fireball launcher the way you're putting it. And there's already fire bullets.

Incendiary ammunition. There is your long range flame thrower especially when used in snipers.

Incendiary bullets just don't do it for more. I should maybe i should post the way i feel about flamethrowers in that fetish thread.

Flamethrowers would make a neat VIP weapon for scientists to make. There are some decent flamethrower mods out there. The only thing left to do would be to make them use an ammo system instead of having to spawn a new one every time.

I would imagine a rate of 20 chems to 5 scrap would be a decent realistic measure for about 20 units of napalm, and have the flamethrower burn through them at a rate of about 3 or 5 per second.

I don't know, I guess it's from playing Killing Floor, but a flamethrower would seem like it'd be something that would eat up a massive amount of fuel in a very short amount of time. For balancing reasons, I hope that there's a reloadable flamethrower swep out there that only holds 100 units of fuel at a time and burns it about as fast as that death machine in KF. Which is like 5-6 seconds of continuous fire before it's little tiny tank is empty. Plus, it has enormous recoil and a long reload time, but this is Killing Floor, where the specimens are a bit more competent, or maybe just more plentiful and fasterer, than headcrabs.  
And in a videogame, this is the most sense-making flamethrower I've seen with a cut off valve handle and a small detachable tank.

Maybe a slightly more expensive recipe for 50 units?

I fired a flare gun for the first time today and gazed deeply into the flames of potential collateral damage, slowly i became the fire and i could see myself in the reflection of my eyes. It was absolutely surreal and something i'd hope to see if we have them.

Also screw aiming, lets set -everything- on fire.
