PostSubject: Warmth.   Mon May 04, 2015 9:33 pm

The Cryo-pod lit up. For the first time in 103 years, the temperature of a constant 0 degrees Kelvin ended in the pod. Ice crackled, human body cells began to make ATP in the body; not only was the machine coming alive with heat and light, but so was my body. A heart monitor beeped, slow at first, with some terrible, panicked alarm noises coming into my ears.
For the first time in 103 years I cringed, my eyes shut tighter than they were in my deep slumber. I felt warmth, and eventually light began to pour into my pod, wires connected to monitor my vital signs snapped off. I was awake, finally. It felt like I had only taken a nap, that the outside world wasn’t coated in radiation.
The damn Conglomerates had it coming, how dare they take our Savium. All of this just because of selfish assholes, where would they be if we didn’t teach them how to turn the Savium into a plasma form? Nowhere.
Right now, I had to find out what that alarm ment, because I was woken up for some reason, they needed a military scientist for something. I walked towards the door, and noticed a note left for me written in on a table. It read: “If you are reading this, then you have survived the freezing and thawing process, and you are needed with the Cryo crew, please report to them immediately.” Another note read my name, occupation, and the age of my body: “Warran J. Dally, Weapons and Munitions Scientist, age of cells in body:34”. I managed to retain all of my information pretty well, considering that most people come out of the pods as nervous wrecks, at least that’s what I’ve heard.
The whole bunker shook, the floor shaking down here wasn’t very settling, this bunker is supposed to withstand just about anything and reduce panic. I figured the Cryogenics team might need me immediately, so I pushed down the latch, and the metal door slid upwards, with a few resistant creaks. I walked down the hallway, towards the laboratory. No sound. Where was everybody at? I yelled out with my still weakened lungs “Hello!?”. No reply. The lab was empty, nobody seemed to have moved anything for a while now, there was a thin layer of dust sitting on most of the equipment.
Another creak and shake. I need to find out what happened here and get the hell out. Now. I headed down to the guard’s office, guards and cryogenics specialists would have yearly “shifts” in order to protect some of the other members of the bunker, and would only lose a few years before going back into cryo, some feeling resistant to wake up and cooperate. I opened the door, and the smell of rotten flesh and the dead hit my in the face. I wheezed a few coughs, and looked up. Every guard was dead and filled with not lead, but savium bullets.
Conglomerates. I looked at the bodies for a weapon, as if the Conglomerates were still in here, I’d need one. One 9mm pistol laid on the body of an unknown guard. I picked it up, and checked the clip, 3 bullets, must’ve gone down with a bit of a fight. An ID sensor flared up, all members of the bunker were required to have an ID chip implanted in them, so that no frauds or spies could be about the bunker, damn shame they didn’t do very much. A voice played on the intercom, with gunshots echoing in the background.
"Attention all surviving members. You must leave now. The Conglomerates have discovered our location, and will kill all of us, we have produced armor equal to that of a Conglomerate Hardsuit, and their will be 5 of them within a hidden, vault sealed door, it is time sensitive, and will open after geiger counters on the surface stop showing dangerously high amounts of radiation, and will also wake you up as well.” The Eurasian Coalition’s National Anthem began to play, as a pre recorded message to remind all of us what we once were a part of, a booming union stretching across half of the world.
My job was to make armor equal to that of the hardsuit, so that one day we may rise up and drive the Conglomerates back.
I walked to this “Vault” area, but the door wasn’t open, as a matter of fact there was a shield of energy that must have been Conglomerate, not only did they know we were here, they knew right where our technology was. Good thing they had no luck getting in here yet. Guess all I can do now is leave. Nothing else here for me. I pressed the button near a large vault door “This door will close in 2 minutes, please make haste in exiting the bunker”. I wasted no time at all, as I turned the hatch to open the smaller door leading to my freedom, now if I ever wanted to get back in, I’d need to somehow get the larger door to open, which was only made to open from the outside once. How the Conglomerates got in and out, I’m not sure.
Light flooded my eyes, and the desert dust quickly coated my skin. This begins my story in the wasteland, and I have yet to end it, nor do I plan to end it anytime soon.
For the Eurasian Coalition!
