So, it has come to my attention through forums and in-game events, that newer members of the server are confused upon what to do, and aren't really sure how to go about asking with all of the big "metal men" around them.
Well, I have a great idea, and I was hoping I could get some support from players and staff on my idea:
We bring a tutorial, controlled completely by players, and introduced just like any quest would, in a high profile building (town hall, police department, etc.), and with a more experienced player needed small little things.
Here's how it works:
A fresh, brand new player will be given a radio, taught how to use that, and some sort of melee weapon.
They will be sent to gather some sort of item received from scavenging (Servos,Water Jet Cutters,Canned Food), when they return, they'll be paid.
They will then receive some sort of class specific task:
Wastelander- Collect a grub egg from an antlion nest/Bring 10 antlion meats/Earn enough resources to craft a new weapon
Engineer- Create a munitions press/Collect Gunpowder/Create first gun from a public engineering station at the quest area
Scientist- Make first medical item/Make plasma pistol/Craft first plasma or laser weapon
Scavenger- Learn how to use a miner/Scavenge enough to make a melee weapon/Scavenge up to 100 of each, and get to keep the 100 and get a weapon reward.
Cultivator- Learn how to work with plants/Learn how grubs work/Receive a weapon from scavenging.

After the player is trained to use their class, they will be educated on more of the fine rules depending on their class, with obvious emphasis on the wastelander and all of the hit rules.

Then, they will be sent on some sort of job to either reclaim an item that would be a prop, calling for a little scavenger hunt, or they will be sent to save and bring back an injured teammate, which will be one of the members working with the project.

Lastly, there will be a "graduation" mission: This will involve one of the harder aspects to grasp, PVP.
A few different things can happen, based on the amount of newer players at this point, as well as the amount of project members on.
A bounty is placed on a bandit's head, and we need somebody who can take them down.
A group of bandits is holed up and we need you and few others to take them down.
People have been disappearing from town, go and find who's been taking them, and end them.

Now, these sound unsafe for new players, and especially unsafe for project members.
We will have people with defibrillators ready, as well as people being ready to recover suitcases to give back to either side, the bandit side will have metal armor at most, and will miss on purpose at times, providing a small but challenging risk to the new players. I, or one of the other project leads will also be assisting with the new players raiding/attacking large bandit camps, to make everything stays controlled and no rules are broken on accident by newer players. I will also be there as much as possible to make sure some RP happens, and it isn't too hard to do so when creating atmosphere for bandits.

Now, you may ask, why am I posting this on the forums?
Because, I need assistance, this isn't a thing I can do on my own, not at all.
Here's what I need:
People who can assist with quests or standby teams for the big raid
Resources
Small value items, such as Glocks and leather armor for rewards.
A miner, either works.
An oven, any upgrade works.

I know that is a lot to ask, but with Fallout 4 bringing a huge influx of new players with interests towards the apocalypse genre, we are going to need to shape their experience. Please, don't hesitate to message me on Steam if you have any questions or concerns, or just look for me in-game.

Edit: But in all seriousness, this is a great idea, and I would love to help out. Me and my group cant really provide any loot (For some obvious reasons that you dont need to know about) but I would love to use it to help RP, such as when the missions are happening our group can help or some such things, but whatever you need help with, im in.

Absolutely love this idea, I've noticed every new player only comes on once or twice before stopping completely
I can provide an industrial stove (I would prefer to teach them with a beginner's-grade stove), teach them both plant types, rad-removing whiskeys, and how to grub.
I could also be a 'bandit', or be a standby. I'd just love to see this happen.

I am extremely fond of this concept. It appears well thought out, and already has a method of being executed. I'd be quite willing to be one of the "Quest givers", or initial mentors. I don't mind teaching new players what I know, as I've 'mentored' many players over my time in PNRP. It's something that a discouragingly small number of PNRP 'vets' do.

But as with all things, it grows tiresome over time. This however, wouldn't remove the 'babysitter' element from the scenario.. For the most part at least. Either way.. I'd most definitely like to see something come of this idea.

Warran this is something that I have been thinking about for a while now but never put any serious effort into and im really glad to see someone else revive this idea who cares about keeping new players around and turning them into regulars... one thing I have noticed about most of our regulars as of resent is they all seem to look down and bully new players or even just flat out ignore them... I think what this is a seriously good thing for the server and you have my full support.

Suggestion: Change the name to something diffrent. Lets say a player sees this post on the forum before entering server for some reason, they see this post and see the "town hall". They choose not to participate because they find it rude everyone in the project is labeled as a "Noob". Just my thoughts on the whole thing.

Hm, if anybody could think of a good name for the project other than "N00B" that'd be good I suppose, I just use it as a name to show everybody the purpose of what it's for and give them a general idea without having to explain the whole thing. Perhaps "New Hope" or something like that. And thanks to everybody for your support!

Prime them for the wasteland? soemthing like that.

I can paste my adv dupes when im online for bases to raid, granted most are just eye-candy (should be hard to attack and defend, more like a battleground for people)

having good rp doesnt make one fit for staff duties, especially if said people are always playing with the same small group of people and no one else. staying in an echo chamber only makes your own words reflected back to you and whoever else is in the chamber. people applying for staff need to not only know the staff, but also how the playerbase can react to interactions between itself, the general staff base and the applicant
