Note: This is not Resurgence.


The experiment server is just what the title implies, it's an experiment to see what exactly happens when there are no rules whatsoever on Fallout: Decay. The experiment server will also provide an environment for those who like the gamemode, but are not parcel to the enforcement of roleplay or rules. On the experiment server, not even staff of the current server will be given staff powers, no one will other than me, and I'll only be using my powers to collect data. The changes between this gamemode and the current one are as follows:

Players will spawn randomly in the wasteland, there are no defined spawn areas.

Since there will be no rules, we will have to remove all forms of building and spawning props and PAC. This is because building is heavily exploitable, and would require administration to be  implemented properly, which defeats the entire purpose of the experiment. Later if demand is high enough, I may allow players to create props, but that are always no-collided no matter what for decorative purposes.

players will not spawn with a physgun or toolgun, and will have a prop limit of 0. Instead, they will spawn with a low damage. 9mm pistol and a lead pipe, both of which will break down for 0 of each resource.

The server is running on it's own version of the gamemode with a brand new database, been waiting for a chance to begin a new? This is it.

So why do this? Well, this is mainly because it takes no effort from me. The worst case scenario is that my fears of making a gamemode like this will have solid evidence, and it will become a gamemode where veteran players sit on a pile of loot, and new players cannot do anything. but the Best case scenario is that it actually becomes a much more dynamic and vibrant gamemode with factions dedicated to making the world hell, and factions dedicated to protecting the people from the after mentioned factions. It's doubtful, but I'm hopeful. All players with a questionable past with the community will also be unbanned from this server, so if you've been waiting for resurgence, this should hold you over until then.

I'm still not sure whether or not I want to synchronize donator ranks yet, the reason is actually technical, as it would take a lot more work than you'd think to synchronize donator ranks across the servers, and I really want everyone to be on an equal as possible playing field seeing as this is an experiment. I may add separate donations for this server with much different packages. We'll see.

I think staff should be given powers so they can prevent flaming on the server as well as immediately reporting any bugs/exploits they find.

I think having staff would be a good idea just in case people use exploits or if someone is hacking and you're not awake to do anything about it.

I assume that when you mean no rules you mean no rules regarding rdm and such. I would hope that there are still guidlines for basing to prevent prop block and similar things to that. And we would need a map with alot of cover to prevent spawn killing.

Bizz forgot to put in the post; some staff will have powers for hackers and some other things.

He also forgot to say that there will be a system to prevent spawn killing. People will spawn as far away as possible from eachother.

While I don't think I'd have much interest in this kind of server, I would like to make some recommendations/questions.

Props- rather than disabling them entirely, how about creating and allowing from a SELECTION of pre-made and pre-approved structures? I'm sure someone here could whip up a design or two for "balanced" buildings. (Several windows, multiple points of entry, etc.)

Factions- the current faction system works quite well, but I think it'd be a good idea to implement a system that only allows players to invite each other from talking distance (that way people aren't bombarded by faction invites at random.)

Class system- will there be a class system, or will players have a set of skills they can chose to focus on

NPCs- what kind of NPCs (if any) will be in here? If so, I would recommend that NPCs actually drop what they're carrying. That way anyone can get sufficiently geared without requiring too massive of a time investment (might help against veteran players being too powerful for anyone to oppose.)

Thanks for those ideas, they're great! I want to get this server up as soon as possible, but I might add some of that stuff later.

Right now, it's just Fallout: Decay with the above changes. There's still classes.
I'll probably implement some of your ideas though.

By the way, the server's already almost ready. We may have to change the maps a few time, but once we settle, we settle for good.

Question for Resurgence the gamemode will be smilar to GmodZ the system? Expect you won't lose your item when you inventory them and you died not equipment, I know the red flag will save your favorite item.

That was just sort of a common sense thing. Irrelevant as that map was changed too by error and it is not ready for player use, and the spawn is never meant to be centralized.
