PostSubject: retarded armor system i made   Tue Aug 02, 2016 5:08 am

I got banned for some bullshit, so I decided to make something useful.

(4 days)

Basically parented a ragdoll to my existing model using EF_BONEMERGE (thanks wiki)


Features as follow: Footstep sounds, basic bullet resistance (hl2 weapons only), removable through concommands, drawn overlay.

Planned features: Explosion resistance. Radiation resistance.

Credits: Rev Jess (overlay & animation), Maurtis Wiki (EF_BONEMERGE & Entity:SetParent help), Bizzclaw (making cool shit in a short period of time.)

Ideas, Constructive Criticism is appreciated.

Edit: I realise EF_BONEMERGE is client-side. Not sure how I could network this for other players.. Mad

Generally when making an armor system you want the entity to be completely invisible so it doesnt clip through the armor model. Also if you have issues with the model unmerging itself after you walk a certain distance away from another player I think you need to do some fucked shit with timers making sure that the model is bone merged every second or something.

No need. I used the burnt corpse model for demonstration purposes. If you have a ping of 300 then yea, you would see some clipping.
Any case, I could just use ent:SetColor on the player or change it to some invisible material like bizz did. Thanks for the feedback.

Edit: Read that wrong. Sounds like a rendering issue. Hopefully I won't encounter such No
