Figured that I was in the mood to spread some joyous news about the new game. I'd like to be asked questions, and as a lead developer in the Resurgence Scene, happily answer them as long as I have something to say about the subject in question. The development process is going smoothly at the moment, and I'm more than hyped to be working on the continuation of Decay.

Are there going to be lots of maps to go to explore or is it just one? (like go to one end of a map and press e or [X_BUTTON on xbox controller] to connect to a different map)

Also is there going to be alot of melee weapons to chose from in this gamemode? (example: different varients of knives. Combat knife, Kitchen knife, switchblade)

It's a huge mix honestly, Bizzclaw does all of the Coding and that's really specific. I can't say I do anything overly fancy like porting models, or writing lines and lines of code until my hands feel like they want to fall off.

What I do as a developer is very small in comparison, but I'd like to think it plays a crucial role. I write the descriptions, item names, and lore people will be seeing throughout the game. This means having story tie-ins be 100% flawless. It's a small thing that any competent human with a high school diploma could do, but someone has to sift through the work. I also write the descriptions behind items, perks, skills, everything in that bunch. This also entails balancing out new skills that are implemented through testing out the various features they entail. That means I have to change variables, spam buttons and squeeze around to find out what exactly breaks a system because it's atrocious when you find out that pressing 'E' on John Barkley at Exactly 12:52 AM on a Tuesday in November causes the server to lose it's brain cells and die.

In short, I'm a mix between conceptualisation guy, graphics artist, and full-time bug tester. I also occasionally rip models and port animations for Bizz, but that's umm.. really back-water when I actually have to help with that sort of stuff. I am proud to say I enjoy every second of it though.

To answer you questions in order: Yes, we do hopefully plan to have a system in place that allows players to navigate between various environments. This is done through a relatively complex My-SQL Tie in with the multiple servers. That basically means your character is in a massive database, everything unique, and can move between multiple servers with multiple maps. Think MMO logic.

Second: There will be a plethora of melee weapons seen all throughout the Fallout Games, at least this is what we have planned. You'll be able to wield weapons from the classic games, modern games, and we even have plans for Fallout 4 weapons to play a part.

Really excited for this! Especially the variety that I'm hearing, giving new life to the game. Hope you guys are taking bug reports on the forums as well as soon as resurgence comes out (Because there will probably be a lot)

Also bring back old In-game factions like NCR and keep BOS? It would keep the in-game tie-ins that you guys are talking about Razz

This is what alpha is for after all. I'm not naive or egotistical enough to believe there won't be a lot of bugs, which is why reporting bugs will be easy, as it will be done in game through an in-game menu.

Soon. And yes.

EDIT: It's not set in stone, but if you want to check the status at a constant Here.

It's also been an age old question of "Old or New?", "Keep both or do away with one?" and the direct answer is: While Decay is good to a degree, Resurgence is an expansion of all the good in Decay while doing away with the bad. It's going away whether the player base is wanting it or not, we can't financially support it regardless. Items won't be transferred, as we would have to work out the new game equivalents.

When leveling up, do we have the option to increase our SPECIAL stats? Possibly with an Intense Training perk?

You have forty points to distribute, by default Five points into each SPECIAL stat. This is the same as the Base Fallout games, and Three and New Vegas.

Sadly, no. We don't want to allow this through Perks. This is due to the fact that we want to have the Player's decision on their stats in the beginning of the game to be relatively decisive, you want to be a Mobster with Good aim and High Charm, but dumb wits and crappy luck. You want to be a sharpshooter know it all with great speed and endurance, but weak in the arm.

There will be the ability (Hypothetically) to boost your stats through rare Implants, expensive and scarce and requiring a specialised surgeon to do so. The fee they'd want in return for boosting your attributes combined with the risk, or cost, of acquiring the implants would leave you likely bankrupt.

EDIT: There will be a feature: respecing SPECIAL and SKILL points probably through the same Surgeon or a special Journal item of some kind.

Question, is there gonna be a character slot? If so is it limited or not? If not, I can imagine building a character 2-3 with different aspect of playstyle, scavnger, pvper etc.

As a matter of fact: Yes! You will, by default, have Three character slots to work with, you can delete and save each and every one of them. The reason we chose three is to accomidate the player's want to try new things, "Combat" "Crafting" and "Merchant or Shop Owner".

Why only three character slots? What if I wanted to roll a big guns character, a small guns character, a doctor, and a faction leader? Would I not be able to do all of these things at once?

The short and simple answer is yes. There will be a return of armors from classic Fallout and Fallout 2. Anything from beyond these timelines will be supplemented with something different of custom origin. We're going to be much more lore-centric in this new game.

As I've answered before on a similar question, You cannot be 'Master Level' on more than one main aspect. You can wield big guns and still be a doctor, you just might not be as efficient at the job as if you had decided to main doctor and supplement it with you skill with weapons. We have been playing with the idea of having donations open up more character slots, but Bizz and I have agreed that Three Character slots are more than enough for most to explore the various different courses you can take in the game.

(This is all super vague to me as I don't regularly check forms, please work with the incompetent and probably already answered questions) So what ive gathered from this thread is "Resurgence" will be "Fallout decay 2"? Its more than likely i've misinterpreted it and am ultimately wrong :p. Is Resurgence a standalone or is this indeed an expansion on the foundation of Decay? IF SO, Like a previous question above, do you expect Resurgence to replace Decay and similarly, should we be searching for a server (potentially) called "Fallout Resurgence" in the future? (if this is all even structured in gmod to begin with :p)

Since there is a damage threshold system in place how will you guys rework/balance the armor.
Example: A player in power armor takes no damage for the first four shots from a shotgun then the armors condition gets low as it takes damage and then the shotgun damages the player. This is how I assume it would work but i would like more information on how damage threshold and condition would be handled.

btw: for any one who does not know damage threshold works like this.

Lets say your armors damage threshold is 6 and your ballistic resistance is 20%
So you take 20 damage 6 damage will be taken off because your damage threshold is 6 so you have actually taken 14 damage divided by 1/5 because of 20% ballistic resistance leaves you taking 11.2 damage. I have seen power armor have 20 damage threshold so will how will it work in pvp as well as pve. I would like to know. Thanks!

I'm going on a hiatus, having people not read previous posts and do research just proves they don't actually fucking care about the development process. They're lazy and it's annoying, as much as I love answering questions in a uniform PR way I am also fucking human, and I have a set level of stupid bullshit I can take. It gets annoying seeing people ask over and fucking over again. It gets redundant, and I really am getting bored of it. Do research, stop being lazy fucking cunts. Like I said again I want to know how armor will be balanced with the Damage threshold system in place as the damage reduction seems to do to much. I just want to know how the damage will scale with armors now.
