Scavengers are ment to be fast, squishy reconnaissance and ressource gathering specialists, but our crafting expertise is between slim and none. Since we are trying to add a certain difficulty to the crafting of ammo and guns, I think we could have possible alternatives to ranged weapons such as Bows. I can definitely see the scavenger being able to craft this and seem them as the most capable in crafting these.

They could be relatively easy to make but would not be as accurate or as fast as any firearm when it comes to long and medium range. basically it should be decent for close range, for eliminating mobs, but ends up being useless against players because firearms will out-class it.

If we could find a good Bow and arrow SWEP...

High damage and bleed effects considering that's how bows kill enemies is by making them bleed to death it would be cool to maybe even be able to recollect the arrows after they have been fired I see this is an amazing addition to the game

Maybe a newer style compound bow instead of the older long bows or re-curve bows considering there are machine guns in the waste

Although the recipe for arrows should be pretty spendy considering they should require gun powder. but I love the idea.

When I see this if I try to join the server, it comes as a relief to me. Relief of not being afraid of being framed for tons of shit I didn't do. Relief for not being afraid of messing up a rule. Relief for not having to deal with the admins of Frostburnt. And relief to go to a server where my shots kill stuff, people don't hate me for no reason, and where I can do whatever I want and be treated like a normal person, not a rat held under a microscope under so much pressure to not mess up.

User has been permanatly banned from these forums for the reason "Doesn't want to be here" by Bizzclaw - Honestly I should of banned you a long time ago. And you say you're tired of being treated like "A rat under a microscope"? Sorry, but you've duped, exploited and RDM'd. What did you expect?

This could be a game changer idea since all the new ammo changes. Hopefully this will be approved as soon as possible. I would go and get it approved but I have limits to the amount of internet I can use.

Well I'd probably want to recode the weapon... why would you ever put a bow on M9k base. With the bow when you shot an arrow, does it stick in to the wall? Maybe I can make it so you get the ammo back if you press your use key on it.

If i recall, it would. It uses the GDCW weapon base (My favorite, btw) so it creates an entity every time the bow is fired.

bows and melee weapons were out of consideration a long time ago but since the new update Jamz is considering new things. All in all im just glad to see that we are adding bows finally.

If this gets approved I really don't want anyone who recommends something be all high and mighty about it
Keep that in mind because most of the regulars don't like that.

If Scavengers will gain the ability to manufacture compound bows, would it be possible to use the same base the Customizable weaponry base uses to add additional arrow-types? Also...Engineers....they should be able to craft a Chinese Repeating Crossbow......because China.

No. just no. Engineers already have the entire armory of weapons they can craft, let the fucking scavenger have this moment of glory ok, just no. Bad engineer *slaps engineers with news paper roll*

To answer any questions you might have about the compound bows, if we even decide to put them in...

Q: Will we get different arrow types?
A: No. They won't use the Customizable Weaponry base.

Q: Can you make new Customizable Weapons from scratch with all new attachments?
A: No. Nor would we want to.

Q: Seeing as the bow creates a separate entity for every arrow that's fired, would this lag my game or the server?
A: Nope. I have tested and tested and tested these, and they don't lag anything one bit, clientside or serverside. The arrow entities exist only as long as they are being fired. As soon as they reach their destination they are destroyed, because GDCW. This is why it's my favorite weapon base. Sure, with something like an RPK or an M249 it would lag because of the entity spam, but not for a compound bow.

Q: Can we use the M9k bow or a recurve bow from some other addon pack?
No. The Customizable Weaponry and GDCW bases are the most reliable and most optimized bases. They work the best with what we are doing.

Q: Will they be craftable by Engineers?
More than likely they will be given to Scavengers, seeing as it wouldn't do as much damage, you can aim and run at the same time, and Engineers already have a plethora of weapons than can be crafted. This would level the playing field a bit.
